Types of Dances

DOI teaches 4 ancient classical dance forms such Bharathanatyam, Mohiniattam, Kathak, and Kuchipudi.

Bharathanatyam

This is a classical dance form based on Bharatha's  Natya Sastra and has a geometrical way of presentation. This department is handled by Smt.Subashree, Director DOI.

Kuchipudi

It is the classical dance form of Andhra Pradesh. Kuchipudi derives its name from the village of Kuchelapuram or Kuchipudi of Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The highlight of this art form is the item which is performed on the brass plate called Tharangam.
This department is handled by Shri.Suresh, a senior disciple of guru Shri.Vempatti Chinna Satyam.

Kathak

It is the art form of Uttar Pradesh. The word Kathak is derived from KATHA which means story that is rich in Hindustani music and rhythmic footwork. Lucknow, Banaras, and Varanasi are recognised as 3 schools or gharanas.
This department  is handled by Smt.Shritha, disciple of Smt. Ketaki Hazra who follows the Jaipur and Lucknow style of dancing.

Mohiniattam

It is a graceful art form of Kerala. Through slow and medium tempos the dancer is able to elaborate on expressions and emotions.
This department is handled by Taejha Singh, senior disciple of Smt.Omana.

Kathak

Classes only on Sunday from 11 AM to 1:00 PM.

Mohiniattam

Classes on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Special classes and Home based classes will be conducted as per students' requirement.

Age groups :

Starting from 5 years
Male candidates : From 5 years to 25 years.
Classes conducted for mothers too.
